I had a very positive first impression of this office. Everyone was kind, welcoming, and I felt that they genuinely cared about my 10-year-old dog. Unfortunately, my experience after that has left me questioning whether this is the right long-term vet for our pets.
At my dog’s annual senior visit, which included bloodwork, vaccinations, a heartworm test, fecal testing, and other routine senior care, my bill was around $600. A few days later, I received a call letting me know that the wrong blood panel had been sent out and that I needed to bring my dog back in to have more blood drawn. I appreciated that they refunded the incorrect lab charge and did not charge me for the replacement bloodwork, but it was still frustrating and concerning to have to put my senior dog through another blood draw because of an office error.
My dog also needs a dental cleaning and several extractions, which the veterinarian took the time to explain clearly. I was quoted approximately $1,300–$1,600 for the procedure. My previous vet in Raleigh quoted around $1,000 for the same treatment. I brought this price difference to the office and was told directly that they were not willing to adjust the price.
I completely understand that veterinary care is expensive and that different practices have different pricing. My concern is the overall experience and the lack of flexibility after an error with my dog’s bloodwork. Between the approximately $600 annual visit and the quoted dental procedure, we would be looking at close to $2,000 in veterinary expenses in a relatively short period of time. Given the circumstances, I had hoped there might be some effort to work with us on the dental cost as a gesture of goodwill.
The staff are genuinely nice people, which makes this especially disappointing. We also have another pet who has been seen at this practice, so I would have preferred to build a long-term relationship with the office. Unfortunately, the combination of the pricing, the bloodwork error, and the response when I raised my concerns has made me reconsider continuing our pets’ care here.
I hope the office will take this feedback seriously. In my opinion, retaining longtime clients and families with multiple pets sometimes requires looking beyond the immediate transaction and considering the long-term relationship. I would have felt very differently about the situation if there had been a little more flexibility or consideration given the circumstances.
UPDATE Paisley has more issues than we initially thought, but Page Point has been right there with us as we navigate her care. Mainly I'm updating this review to add new photos of our awesome kitty and how comfortable she feels at Page Point! 😽
Our cat was diagnosed with diabetes at Page Point recently. She also happened to have an ear infection that day. She had previously untreated osteoarthritis, too. So she was feeling lousy. Dr. Luhn and her staff took great care of Paisley and us as they walked us through what we needed to do for her care going forward. They have so much compassion for pets and pet parents. I can't recommend them highly enough.
The rating is not reflective of service. The doctors are amazing but now I have to go find another vet because I was told that they accept your opinion which means they’ll give you a receipt and you can go do the work yourself. When I asked, they know exactly what I was talking about. I was not asking if I can submit it myself. I was asking if they actually accept it there Trupanion is fantastic about paying immediately and quickly while you’re at the vet and letting the people that pay for the service pay the difference. With them not servicing through Trupanion I’m gonna be looking somewhere else. Again the vets are amazing Which makes me very sad that their management doesn’t understand that they’re losing money. I hope they truly consider taking Trupanion in the future. Until then I’ll be searching for someone else for my two dogs.
