My husband and I took our senior cat in late one night because she appeared to be having back leg weakness. We had recently lost her litter mate and were so scared she was dying as well. The front desk staff, Gayle (sp?), was so kind and supportive. She took us to a room to wait for Kayla, the vet technician who was equally as calming and professional. If we ever need an emergency vet visit we will continue to go to Blue Pearl in Durham NC. Thank you all for your service!

This review is for the ER only. We chose this ER because our sweet cat was a chemotherapy patient in their oncology unit and they already had his records. He got sick over the recent holiday weekend and that began our four-day nightmare of trying to get him help. Even a week later, I’m still stunned by their lack of clear communication, empathy, kindness, and help during a very difficult period for us. They saw our cat Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, and eventually sent him home on an oral antibiotic after being hospitalized overnight Monday into Tuesday. Upon discharge, they said he was breathing hard but stable. However, he almost immediately went into respiratory distress in my car, and I had to rush him to a different ER that was closer. I called BluePearl and they just kept insisting he was stable when he left. The new ER tried to get records from BluePearl, and they made it very difficult, first sending incomplete records and delaying treatment, and then asking why we were continuing to try to stabilize him since he had cancer. We wanted to try to get him through the acute respiratory illness and worry about his cancer later. The new ER tried to stabilize him Tuesday and Wednesday, but he unfortunately didn't make it. I can’t speak to the medicine at BluePearl because I don’t know what they did. Our boy apparently had a complication from his final dose of chemotherapy. Maybe they did everything correctly, and he just wasn’t going to make it. But their treatment of me during this difficult time was awful and made everything so much worse. It feels like a final way to advocate for our boy to say we all deserved better. We never got any sort of sympathy or follow up from the ER after our boy passed. He died less than a day after he was discharged from their ER. But we somehow got added to an email list and just received an email saying if our pet needed surgery we should go there.

14 yr old dog with severe diarrhea and no appetite. They proposed $1400 of tests and X-rays (full body) and yet did no fecal sample. The next day my vet treated her with sample (found bacterial infection) and antibiotics.
